Analysis:
Motif finding could not be completed with the input of the gene as a whole. As a gene spanning more than 400,000 base pairs, the gene exceeded motif finders' maximum of 60,000 characters. The gene was divided into 9 searches, and these three motifs were found throughout all of the searches, in repeat. These motifs were the only ones found throughout the gene when the cut-off score of 85 was implemented. Information regarding the functions of gene motifs were largely unknown.
Therefore, for our research we are focussing on protein domains in cdh23, which are much better established.
