BLAST results from alignment with
Mouse and Rat

Human CDH23 Blasted against Mus musculus Database

Human CDH23 Blasted against Rattus norvegicus Database

3% query coverage, max score 654, E-value of 0.0. max ident. = 95%.

Analysis:

The cdh23 gene was blasted against both mouse and rat databases to assess the homology between each. From the 3% query coverage, the two sequences aligned at 95%, a highly conserved amount. Both BLASTs had an e value of zero, indicating that this alignment was not coincidental. From this data we can determine that either organism would make a good model organism for our protein.

*The rhesus monkey was not blasted against because I did not consider using it in my future experiment.
